The Provincial Police Department of An Giang held an event on January 7 to deploy additional forces to border areas in an effort to prevent the COVID-19 pandemic.

Some 200 officers and soldiers of the local police, army, border guard, customs forces, as well as members of the youth and women organizations of the province have been reinforced to already-existing watch points along the borderline.

The province’s armed forces, including the police, have set up watch points along the borderline. Intersectional teams at the watch points work around the clock to control the illegal entry and exit across the border. They are ordered to strictly handle those who are involved in illegal entry and exit.

In addition, they are responsible for popularizing information about the pandemic and laws on entry and exit to local people, and mobilize them to join hands with the functional forces to detect illegal migration in the border areas.

Speaking at the event, Director of the An Giang Provincial Police Department, Senior Colonel Dinh Van Noi highlighted the importance of the mission and encourage the deployed officers to raise their sense of responsibility and try to fulfil their given tasks.

On this occasion, the provincial police and youth union chapter presented some 20,000 face masks and 50 million VND in cash to the forces in charge of the COVID-19 pandemic prevention and combat in the border areas.
