PSNews – On the occasion of the Vietnamese traditional New Year (Tet) 2017 – Year of Rooster, Editor-in-Chief of the Public Security Newspaper, Major General Pham Van Mien, on behalf of all staff of the newspaper, extends Tet greetings to all collaborators, friends and readers of the newspaper. Below are his Tet greetings in English:

Dear colleagues, friends and readers,

2016 has been considered a busy but successful year of the Public Security Newspaper. During the year, we, the staff of the newspaper, closely followed and faithfully reflected all developments of the domestic and international situation, and major events at home and overseas, on the newspaper’s editions.

In the domestic sphere, the editions of the newspaper frequently covered every aspect of the domestic situation around the year, including issues related national security, social order and safety, socio-economic development, culture and sports, life and work of public security forces and people across the country. What is more, the editions of the newspaper gave readers exact and up-to-date information about national- and sector- level events, particularly the 12th National Party Congress, Election of the 14th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2016-2020 term, State-level ceremonies, developments of national movements, and the 72nd National Public Security Conference as well as issues and events within the Public Security Forces.

All the coverage has provided readers an overall picture of the country as well as the domestic situation of political security, social order and safety, and the situation of the Public Security Forces.

Regarding international issues and foreign affairs, reporters of the newspaper always followed developments of the regional and international situation and updated readers on information about latest happenings in the region and world on time and in an objective manner. Particularly, the newspaper, as the voice of the People’s Public Security Forces and people, always provided readers on foreign activities of leaders of the Party, State, National Assembly, Government and Public Security Forces, including visits of Vietnamese leaders to other countries and leaders of other countries visiting Vietnam.

One of the significant events of the Public Security Newspaper in 2016 was the debut of the Public Security Newspaper’s English Edition Online. Under the permission of the leadership of the Ministry of the Public Security and in response to domestic and international readers, the newspaper debuted its English edition online on the 70th anniversary of the first issue of the Public Security Newspaper, on October 27, 2016. It should have been seen a significant event of the newspaper as this has demonstrated an enormous development of the newspaper and its great effort to satisfy an increasing demand of a rising number of the newspaper’s domestic and international readers for information. This has also meant that the newspaper’s staff has had to undertake greater responsibility.

Since it came into being in late October last year, the newspaper’s Editorial Board has received a large number of encouragements, supports as well as constructive opinions and ideas from leaders of the Public Security Ministry, colleagues from other newspapers, friends and readers at home and overseas. We, all staff of the newspaper, have highly appreciated all supportive and constructive opinions and ideas in an effort to perfect our English edition online so as to better serve domestic and international readers. We are really grateful to you all for that.

On the occasion of the Vietnamese lunar New Year – Year of Rooster, we, all staff of the Public Security Newspaper would like to extend best wishes to all colleagues, friends and readers, and hope to continue receiving your support for and interests in the Public Security Newspaper in general and its English Edition Online in particular. Thank you very much!
