Bao Lam Police maintains peaceful life in border area

PSNews - In 2016, the Police of Bao Lam district made various achievements in fighting and preventing crimes with 85% of the cases busted (30 cases), of which the rate of extremely serious cases busted is 100%, said Lieutenant Colonel Duong Van Hai, Deputy Chief of Bao Lam district Police.

Bao Lam is an extremely poor district of Cao Bang province adjacent to Guangxi province of China. The district is home to different ethnic groups such as the H’mong, Nung, Dao, Tay, San Chi.

Bao Lam district was established in September 2000 from 10 communes split from Bao Lac district with more than 98% of the population are ethnic minorities, two thirds of whom were living in poverty.

Seeing the difficulties of the locality, prior to the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday 2017, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc visited and presented gifts to local needy people. The Prime Minister required the local Party Committee and authorities to actively mobilize people to take more care of their children's learning as this is the best way to eradicate hunger and reduce poverty.

During Tet holiday, a charitable mission of the Public Security Newspaper in collaboration with Bao Lam district Police visited and presented 100 Tet gifts, worth VND 500,000 each to needy people in the locality.

In 2016, Bao Lam district Police regularly conducted dissemination work and mobilized people to voluntarily hand over weapons, explosives and supporting tools. Commune police forces seized tens of hackbuts and alcoholic powered guns.

Besides, the district Police successfully maintained the “Healthy communes say no to drug addiction” model in five communes and expanded the model to others. The local police force also held monthly briefings at the commune- and security group-level to promptly grasp the crime situation of the locality.

Bao Lam district Police also actively coordinated with local Party Committee and authorities to strengthen the local political system and resolve complicated issues, including the movement to fight against Duong Van Minh’s illegal organization.

In recognition of their achievements in 2016, two collectives and four individuals of Bao Lam district Police were awarded with Certificates of Merit of Cao Bang provincial People's Committee for the “Implementation of the provincial Party Committee’s Stan

ding Committee’s Direction on the prevention and elimination of Duong Van Minh’s illegal organization.”

During the year, Bao Lam police force has strengthened the work of building safe and united residential areas, educating people with mistakes at their communities, contributing to the successful implementation of the socio-economic missions in 2017 under the Resolution of the 12th National Party Congress.
