CAND Newspaper and donor offer 200 gifts to needy people in Bac Ninh

This was the first stop of the "Tet for the poor" journey in new year 2018 of the CAND Newspaper. From early morning, residents of Trung Chinh commune came to the designated place awaiting the mission. Some elderly were also taken to the site by their relatives.

Trung Chinh is a purely agricultural commune and a large majority of the residents are farmers. Mr. Luong Van Hung, Vice Chairman of the Trung Chinh communal People's Committee said that the commune has 3,150 households living in 18 villages. Among them, 104 are rated as needy ones, and 40 others are policy beneficiaries and revolution contributors. The average income of the Trung Chinh residents in 2017 was 34 million VND/ person/ year. Many needy households in the commune are in a miserable state.
Mr. Nguyen Van Luong, aged 78, residing in Trinh Khe village told that his wife has been paralyzed for years and his youngest daughter (aged 41) has suffered from metal illness since her childhood. His family depends heavily on the limited supports from his son and 2 others daughters, who are all poor.
Two years ago, his wife had kidney failure. Since then, his family has had to spend 5 million VND per month on the treatment of her, which has made their life even more difficult. He said that supports from many kind-hearted donors, including the CAND Newspaper, have helped the family a lot in the treatment of his wife.
Same day, the charitable mission also visited residents of Phu Hoa commune. Phu Hoa is one of the poorest communes of Luong Tai district, where the local people rely mainly on agriculture. The commune has 90 needy households,of which 30 households are state-sponsors.
On behalf of the authorities and people of Trung Chinh and Phu Hoa communes, Mr. Doan Van Manh, Standing Vice Chairman of the Luong Tai District People's Council extended his deep thanks to the CAND Newspaper and the Vietnam Phoenix Tourism Company for their support to needy local people.
Major General Pham Van Mien said, "Tet for the poor" has become a traditional activities of the CAND Newspaper on the occasion of the new year.
Luong Tai was the first stop of the "Tet for the poor" journey this year. Although the gift was not much in value but it reflected the CAND Newspaper and Phoenix Company's compassion and empathy for needy people, in the hope that they would have a happier Tet.
