CAND Newspaper holds meeting with collaborators in South

The event saw the presence of Lieutenant General Vo Thai Hoa, former Deputy Minister of Public Security; Major General Mai Van Ha, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the Communications and Information Department under the Ministry of Public Security; and Journalist Nguyen Be, Deputy Chairman of the Vietnamese Journalists' Association.
The event also welcomed leaders of units under the Ministry of Public Security, and representatives of local police units, press agencies, enterprises, as well as kind donors, writers, translators, scientists and collaborators of the CAND Newspaper in Ho Chi Minh City.
Speaking at the event, Major General Pham Van Mien, Editor-in-Chief of the CAND Newspaper briefed delegates on the outstanding achievements of the CAND Newspaper in the past year.
"2018 was a very exciting year with the press and media in general and the CAND Newspaper in particular. Thanks to the sound leadership of the Ministry of Public Security, the Central Commission for Information and Education, the Ministry of Information and Communications, and supports from relevant agencies and the collaboration of intellectuals, translators, artists and writers in Vietnam and abroad, we (staff of the CAND Newspaper) have successfully fulfilled our assigned tasks, in spite of difficulties," Major General Pham Van Mien said.
The Editor-in-Chief of CAND Newspaper also said that, in 2018, many reports, series of written pieces on the newspaper, which were highly appreciated by readers, received many high prizes of the National Press Awards, the Golden Hammer and Sickle Awards (Bua Liem Vang), and press awards from ministries, departments, and branches from the central to local levels.
In addition to the printed products, the newspaper also organized other activities, including online talks on the hot topic of public concern "Detecting black credit and preventive approaches", the art program "Echo of the victory" to celebrate the founding anniversary of the Public Security Forces, the art program "Keeping the sacred oath" to marks the first issue of the CAND Newspaper..
The newspaper continued to serve as a reliable bridge between benefactors and needy people across the country. In 2018, the CAND Newspaper mobilized businesses, organizations and people from all walks of life to donate over 20 billion VND for needy people in remote areas, Major General Pham Van Mien revealed.
On behalf of the leaders and all officers and staffs of the CAND Newspaper, Major General Pham Van Mien extended his deep gratitude and New Year wishes to all delegates and the newspaper’s collaborators who contributed to the success of the newspaper last year. He hoped that other agencies and writers will continue to support and join hand to improve the quality of the CAND Newspaper in the coming time.
