Major General Pham Van Mien, Editor-in-Chief of the CAND Newspaper and Senior Colonel Pham Khai, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the CAND Newspaper co-chaired the event.
The event also saw the presence of Lieutenant General Le Ngoc Nam, former Deputy Director of the Public Security General Department of Politics; Mr. Nguyen Nho Trung, Chairman of the Da Nang Municipal People's Council; representatives of Da Nang municipal departments, branches and agencies; leaders of units under the Ministry of Public Security and leaders of the police units of Da Nang City, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Thua Thien Hue and Quang Tri provinces, as well as representatives of agencies and enterprises and kind donors who have actively supported the CAND Newspaper in its social work. The event was also participated in by famous local artists, writers and 100 dear collaborators of the newspaper in central Vietnam.

Speaking at the event, Major General Pham Van Mien, Editor-in-Chief of the CAND Newspaper affirmed that, 2018 was a very eventful but challenging year for the press and media, especially for the print newspaper sector as the paper prices continued to increase dramatically.
However, promoting the tradition of a unit holding the "Hero of Labor in the Doi Moi period", the CAND Newspaper seriously followed its principles and objectives and stood fast in the political and ideological front.
In particular, the newspaper has successfully updated and disseminated all guidelines and policies of the Party, laws of the State to the people, quickly covered activities of the Public Security Forces, and gave sufficient information about the security and order, socio-economics and art and culture situations of the country and localities.
In addition to its printed publications, the online editions in Vietnamese and foreign languages of the CAND Newspaper also promoted its position in the Vietnamese revolutionary press, and received great support from domestic and international readers.
In 2018, many reports, series of written pieces in the CAND newspaper’s publications, which were highly appreciated by readers, received many high prizes of the National Press Awards, the Golden Hammer and Sickle Awards (Bua Liem Vang), and press awards from ministries, departments, and branches from the central to local levels.
In addition to the journalism, the newspaper also organized other activities, including online talks on the hot topic of public concern "Black credit and preventive approaches", the art program "Echo of the victory" to celebrate the founding anniversary of the Public Security Forces, the art program "Keeping the sacred oath" to marks the first issue of the CAND Newspaper.
Moreover, the newspaper also promoted the social activities, continued to serve as a reliable bridge between benefactors and needy people across the country. In 2018, the CAND Newspaper mobilized businesses, organizations and people from all walks of life to donate over 20 billion VND for needy people.
These achievements rooted from the sound leadership of the Ministry of Public Security, the Central Commission for Information and Education, the Ministry of Information and Communications, and supports from relevant agencies and especially the collaboration of intellectuals, translators, artists and writers in Vietnam and abroad, as well as support from kind donors for its social activities, Major General Pham Van Mien affirmed.
On behalf of the leaders and staff of the CAND Newspaper, Major General Pham Van Mien extended his deep gratitude and New Year wishes to all delegates and the newspaper’s collaborators who have supported the newspaper over the last year.
He also hoped that, in the coming time, leaders of relevant units and collaborators will continue to support and join hands to improve the quality of the CAND Newspaper.
On this occasion, leaders of police units in Central provinces and cities also presented Certificates of Merit to the Representative Office of the CAND Newspaper in Da Nang for their outstanding achievements in reporting activities of the Public Security Forces and popularizing laws, contributing to ensuring security and order, promoting socio-economic development and social activities in the region.
