The Animal Training Center under the Mobile Police Command, the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security (MPS), in February, held the Closing Ceremony of a Veterinary Medicine Course for five officers of the Cambodian Ministry of Interior.

Speaking at the event, Senior Colonel Nguyen Trong Chi, Deputy Commander of the Mobile Police said that the Vietnamese MPS and Cambodian Ministry of Interior cooperated in various fields over the past time. Particularly, the Vietnamese side provided various training programs to augment professionalcapacity for Cambodian law-enforcement officers.

Since 1999, the Vietnamese MPS has organized eight training courses for 69 Cambodian officers on management, training, and use of police animals. But, this was the first course on veterinary medicine.

During the six-month course, Cambodian students were equipped by Vietnamese lecturers of the Animal Training Center with basic knowledge on veterinary medicine. They also practiced managing, nurturing, preventing, examining and treating common diseases of police dogs, as well as applying breeding methods of police dogs.

After the relatively short training course, the students still gained basic knowledge and useful experience. Senior Colonel Nguyen Trong Chi asked the the Animal Training Center and relevant units to be well prepared to support officers of the Cambodian Ministry of Interior upon request and under the leadership of the Vietnamese MPS.
