PSNews - The Chau Doc police force and authorities have made a good impression on pilgrims as the local police force and other local forces have closely collaborated with each other in ensuring social security and order at local tourist attractions and quickly and effectively handling unlawful activities there, such as cheating, pickpocket and divination.

Over the past 2 years, Chau Doc municipal leaders have adopted a high sense of determination to eliminate social evils and to improve local security and order at local festivals, particularly in Ba Chua Xu temple.  As a result, no beggars were seen around Sam mountain during this year’s festival.

Being the core force to maintain social security and order in the locality, Chau Doc police has mobilized efforts and assets to ensure safety in Ba Chua Xu temple.

"These days, people flocked to Ba Chua Xu temple very early in the morning. Traffic police as well as order and mobile police have been divided into groups to manage traffic flows, preventing congestions," said an officer of the Chau Doc Traffic Police.

What is more, local police also did other jobs. For example, they helped a mother to find out her little son, who was lost due to big crowds at the festival.

Lieutenant Colonel Duong Huu Hoa, deputy head of the Nui Sam Ward Police said: "The Nui Sam Ward Police have coordinated closely with traffic police and order police to ensure traffic safety. They also collaborate with criminal police to prevent pickpocket and robbery. After the Tet holiday, Chau Doc province has mobilized the local mobile police force to work along with the ward police station to remain safety for local people, pilgrims and visitors. Ward policemen are all on duty during weekends."

Colonel Pham Thanh My, Head of the Chau Doc Municipal Police stressed Chau Doc is a Mekong Delta tourism hub. Under the motto "Chau Doc - a green, clean, civilized and commercial city for tourism", Chau Doc police under the leadership of local authorities, and with close collaboration of function units are implementing an action plan to ensure safety for tourists. Accordingly, they ask sellers to sell their goods at the fixed prices, and food catering shops to ensure food safety and hygiene, and fire safety.

According to the Chau Doc Municipal Police Director, since 2001, the Via Ba Chua festival at Nui Sam has been recognized by the Ministry of Culture and Information, and the Vietnam Tourism Administration as a national-level festival so more and more visitors and pilgrims come there.

Thanks to  local police forces’ efforts and good performance, no criminal case have so far been reported at local festivals.
