Counter Narcotics Police Department holds 7th Party Congress

PSNews - Senior Lieutenant General Le Quy Vuong, Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Public Security, attended and delivered a speech at the 7th Party Congress of the Party organization of the Counter Narcotics Police Department on August 11.

Over the past five years, the Party Committee of the Counter Narcotics Police Department has led the counter-narcotics police force nationwide to effectively fight drug-related crimes.

Particularly, the force successfully solved 669 cases, arrested 1,691 people involved and seized more than 2 tons of heroin, 3.1 tons of synthetic drugs, 1.2 million pills of meth, 20.5 kg of opium, 130.66 kg of marijuana, 184.3 kg of cocaine and many relevant exhibits.

At the Congress, Deputy Minister Le Quy Vuong presented a letter of appreciation by Standing Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh to the Counter Narcotics Police Department as well as awarded commendation decisions from the Ministry of Public Security to the relevant teams for their recent achievements in destroying an transnational criminal ring trafficking illicit drugs from Vietnam to South Korea, on July 29.

The delegates elect the Party Executive Committee for the term of 2020 - 2025.

The delegates at the Congress discussed and gave ideas to the draft documents of the Counter Narcotics Police Department’s Party Congress. They also elected the Party Executive Committee of the Party organization for the 2020-2025 term and a delegation to attend the 7th Public Security Central Party Congress.

Regarding its missions in the coming time, Deputy Minister Le Quy Vuong requested that the Counter Narcotics Police Department’s Party organization to give strategic advice to the Party, the Government, the Public Security Central Party Committee and the Ministry of Public Security on prevention and fight against drug-related crimes.

It should lead the counter-narcotic police force to closely coordinate with other functional forces in effectively eliminating all criminal rings and groups producing and trafficking illicit drugs.

The Party organization should attach great importance to improving the efficiency of international cooperation on drug prevention and control while strengthening coordination with law enforcement forces of foreign countries to prevent drug smuggling into Vietnam from afar. 

It should also direct the Counter Narcotics Police Department to launch joint operations and intensive campaigns to crack down on drug-related crimes along the border line.
