Deputy Minister Bui Van Nam receives Assistant of Senior US Senate

On behalf of the leaders of Vietnam's Ministry of Public Security (MPS), Deputy Minister Bui Van Nam warmly welcomed Mr. Tim Rieser, and highly appreciated the contributions of Mr. Tim Rieser and Senator Patrick Leahy to the Vietnam-US relations in general as well as the cooperation of the two sides in overcoming the consequences of the war in Vietnam in particular.

Deputy Minister Bui Van Nam emphasized that the promotion of exchange of information and cooperation in the areas of crime prevention and national security of each country is an issue of mutual interest. 

The Vietnamese Deputy Minister also hoped that Mr. Tim Rieser would serve as a bridge to expand effective cooperation between the MPS of Vietnam and relevant US agencies, contributing to promoting national security and prosperity of each country, as well as peace, stability and development in the region and world.

Deputy Minister Bui Van Nam also hoped that Mr. Tim Rieser and Senator Patrick Leahy would continue to share experiences, and support the MPS of Vietnam in fighting drug-related crimes, money laundering, hi-tech crimes, as well as in building a Vietnamese training center for the prevention and fight against terrorism. 

He suggested the two sides promote cooperation mechanisms to exchange information, consult policies and experiences in preventing and fighting crimes against national security of each country.

Mr. Tim Rieser thanked Deputy Minister Bui Van Nam for his reception and emphasized that his visit to Vietnam took place at an important time when Vietnam and the US had concluded the project to clean dioxin contamination at Danang airport and are about to deploy treatment similar project at Bien Hoa airport. 

He also stressed that he would continue to make concrete contributions to further promoting friendship between the two nations in general, cooperation between the MPS of Vietnam and the functional agencies of the United States in particular.
