Deputy Minister Bui Van Nam receives UN Resident Coordinator in Vietnam
Senior Lieutenant General Bui Van Nam, Deputy Minister of Public Security,received Mr. Kamal Malhotra, United Nations (UN) Resident Coordinator in Vietnam, on October 1 in Hanoi.

Speaking at the reception, Deputy Minister Bui Van Nam emphasized that over the past time, the UN has greatly supported and coordinated with Vietnam, especially in the field of peacekeeping operations.
The Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security is equipping public security officers with knowledge and skills to meet the UN’s standards so as to send them to UN peacekeeping missions in the near future.

The Deputy Minister expressed hope that Mr. Kamal Malhotra and his colleagues will provide training documents and send experts to help Vietnam organize training courses, especially pre-deployment training courses, for its public security officers who will be deployed to UN peacekeeping missions upon request.
The UN Resident Coordinator thanked Deputy Minister Bui Van Nam for his reception. He spoke highly of Vietnam’s active participation in UN peacekeeping operations over the past time.
Mr. Kamal Malhotra said he hopes Vietnam will soon send public security officers to UN peacekeeping missions, especially while Vietnam is a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council.
Mr. Kamal Malhotra affirmed that he will do his best to support and create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese Public Security Forces to join UN peacekeeping operations as soon as possible.
