Deputy Minister Le Quy Vuong briefs NA deputies on fight against crimes

Within the framework of its 48 thsession, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly (NA) on September 14 gave comments on the Government’s report on prevention and fight against crimes of all kinds and violations of social order lawsover the past time.

The report was delivered by Senior Lieutenant General Le Quy Vuong, Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Public Security.

According to the report, the functional forces have successfully investigated 33,131 cases of social-order violation and prosecuted 20,242 cases. Of the figure, the clear-up rates for serious cases and extremely serious cases were respectively 85.75% and 95.91%. The number of criminal cases has decreased by 3.19% against the same period in 2019.

The police force destroyed 2,485criminal groups of all kinds, especially those conducting "black credit" activities. Additionally, the police discovered 24,842 drug-related cases with 40,461 people involved, seized over 580 kg of heroin, nearly 3.2 tons and nearly 1.7 million pills of synthetic drugs.

Over the past months, the functional forces have handled 17,887 cases of economic wrongdoings, of which 1,895 cases were prosecuted with 2,986 persons accused.

Deputy Minister Le Quy Vuong emphasized that the investigation of law violations, arrest and detention of suspects were carried out in accordance with the laws under the strict supervision of the People’s Procuracies. The criminal investigation agencies at all levels seriously followed the NA’s resolutions on investing and handling crimes.

Over the past time, the functional forces have handled more than 100,000 crime reports from the people, reaching 83.94%.

In the report, the Government also points out the shortcomings and limitations in the fight against crimes, law violations and corruption as well as in the execution of criminal judgments over the past time. It also analyzed the causes and proposed solutions to the above issues in the time to come.

Particularly, the Government suggested the NA to complete the legal corridor for the fight against crimes and law violations while promoting its supreme supervision over crime prevention and combat activities to improve the effectiveness of social order and safety maintenance.
