Deputy Minister Le Quy Vuong receives Malaysian Maritime Enforcement delegation

At the meeting, General Vuong welcomed the visit by the Malaysian Admiral and his entourage to Vietnam, who will be permitted to take 8 arrested Indonesian pirates for trial under the decision of the Hanoi Municipal People’s Court.
The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) of Vietnam had been assigned to cooperate with functional agencies to recommend solutions to the case.

Relevant units under the MPS have been asked to closely coordinate with, support and facilitate related agencies of Malaysia in implementing the extradition of the criminals in a convenient and lawful manner.
Regarding bilateral cooperation between the two sides, General Vuong applauded the effective cooperation between the MPS of Vietnam and involved Malaysian agencies, especially in information exchanging information about drug-related criminal activities, human trafficking and high-tech crimes.
He hoped both sides will promote negotiations and soon sign legal documents on criminal extradition; agreements on transfer of verdicts, and agreement on justice assistance to solve issues arising from increasing cooperation between Vietnam and Malaysia in particular, in the ASEAN Community in general.

The Malaysian Admiral thanked General Vuong for his warm reception, expressing his gratitude to the MPS of Vietnam for the support and cooperation in settling Orkim Harmony Ship.
He expected that the cooperation between Police forces of the two nations would be further enhanced and developed, especially on exchanging information and experience in prevention and fight against transnational, drug-related and human trafficking criminals.
