Deputy Minister Le Tan Toi offers incense to President Ton Duc Thang

PSNews – The late President Ton Duc Thang was born in An Giang province on August 20, 1888, to a family with a rich tradition of patriotism.

Within the framework of the working visit to the An Giang Provincial Police Department, Major General Le Tan Toi, Deputy Minister of Public Security led a delegation to offer incense and flower to the late President Ton Duc Thang at his memorial zone in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang.

The late President Ton Duc Thang was born in An Giang province on August 20, 1888, to a family with a rich tradition of patriotism. He joined the patriotic struggle when he was very young and soon became one of the pioneers of the working class and national liberation movements, significantly contributing to worker’s movements around the world.

During his 15 years in Con Dao prison (1930-1945), he became a spiritual leader to the political prisoners held at the prison.

After the success of the August Revolution in 1945, he was released from prison and comrade Ton Duc Thang joined hands with the Party, people and army to build a people’s democratic administration in order to complete the cause of national liberation. He was the State President from 1969 to 1976.

The memorial site is built in the style of a stilt house. The memorial site also preserves many artifacts related to late President Ton Duc Thang.
