Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc attends Traffic Police Conference

The Traffic Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security held a conference on December 14 to roll out the traffic police force’s working plan for 2021.

Major General Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Deputy Minister of Public Security attended the event, and Major General Nguyen Van Trung, Director of Traffic Police Department chaired it.

In 2020, the traffic police force has basically ensured traffic safety nationwide while joining other functional forces in preventing and controlling the Covid-19 pandemic, conducting rescue missions during storms and floods, and helping people overcome the aftermath of natural disasters.

The traffic police force also exerted efforts to reduce the numbers of traffic accidents, fatalities, and injured victims. According to statistics, 13,348 traffic incidents happened across the country in 2020, killing 6,180 people and injuring 9,959 people. Compared to the same period of 2019, the numbers of traffic cases, deaths and injuries in traffic accidents decreased respectively by 16.02%, 11.33%, and 18.14%.

Speaking on behalf of the Ministry of Public Security’s leadership at the event, Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc praised the achievements made by the traffic police force.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc suggested that the force should step up administrative reforms in terms of vehicle registration and handling of administrative violations as well as launch more public services on the National Public Service Portal.

The traffic police department should enhance the application of information technology in their work, especially using camera systems to monitor the traffic and record traffic accidents, while strengthening the fight against crimes and law violations on traffic routes, the deputy minister stressed.
