Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc inspects implementation e-ID card projects in Can Tho

Major General Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Deputy Minister of Public Security, leading a delegation of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) on December 21 worked with the Can Tho municipal police on the progress and implementation results of the National Population Database Project and electronic citizenship identity card (e-ID card) project in the city.

Major General Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Deputy Minister of Public Security, leading a delegation of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) on December 21 worked with the Can Tho municipal police on the progress and implementation results of the National Population Database Project and electronic citizenship identity card (e-ID card) project in the city.

Reportedly, the police of Can Tho city have collected information about 1,292,593 out of the 1,296,105 permanent residents, reaching 99.73%, and 44,570 out of the 63,068 temporary residents, or more than 70%.  The local police also updated and revised information about 101,491 citizens in the national database on population.

Regarding the second project, the local police have granted e-ID cards to 580,993 people (55.19% of the total population).

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc highly appreciated the efforts and results obtained by the police of Can Tho city in implementing the two projects.

The Deputy Minister emphasized that, in order to soon complete the projects, the Can Tho municipal police should further improve the public’s awareness of the significance of the projects while overcoming all difficulties and mobilizing all forces to participate in the implementation of the projects.
