Lieutenant General Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Deputy Minister of Public Security, leading a working delegation, on March 15 visited Can Tho and checked the local police’s implementation of the national database system on population and issuance of chip-based ID cards in 13 Southwestern provinces and cities.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc and his delegation visited and checked the process of issuing e-ID cards at a mobile e-ID card issuing place in Tan An ward, Ninh Kieu district, Can Tho.
According to Major General Nguyen Van Thuan, Director of the Can Tho Municipal Police Department, the city’s police will try their best to issue some 1 million electronic ID cards to people by May 1. To meet this end, the municipal police leadership also established and sent 10 working groups to issue ID cards to people in residential areas, schools, offices or businesses.Later at the meeting, police chiefs of the 13 Southwestern provinces and cities briefed the Deputy Minister and his entourage on the implementation of the national database system on population and issuance of chip-based ID cards. They discussed their difficulties and challenges and shared their working experience in the implementation of the two projects.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc asked all local police units to focus on their major tasks, including building a roadmap to complete the national database system on population and electronic chip ID card issuance.
He also asked the police units to mobilize their forces and means for the issuance of ID cards in accordance with local situations.
