The delegation joined local police forces to draw up plans to reach the isolated landslide site near Ta Rung and Ka Tieng hamlets and bring home the body of a commune-level policeman who had died on duty.
The policeman has been identified as Senior Lieutenant Truong Van Thang, 31, officer at the police post of Huong Viet commune, Huong Hoa, an isolated area due to the recent floods and landslides.
After hours of discussion, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son asked the provincial police of Quang Tri and the police station of Huong Hoa to coordinate with local people to go on trails, crossing forests and river to reach to Huong Viet.
The search and rescue team, including 10 police officers and one local, set at noon on the same day.
The Deputy Minister repeated the importance of finding and bringing the body of the dead policeman and asked the team to stay alert against natural disasters and take preventive measures to protect themselves.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son presented the MPS’s donation to Thang’s family and VND 100 million to support the police station of HuongHoa in their search and rescue operations.
