Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh works with Lam Dong Provincial Police

PSNews–Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Thanh, Deputy Minister of Public Security on the afternoon of January 23 worked with the Lam Dong Fire Police.

Since its establishment in May, 2016, the Fire Police of Lam Dong has achieved various good results in Party and force building, and excellently fulfilled its core mission of fire prevention and fighting and rescue, contributing to promoting socio-economic development of the province, said Senior Colonel Dao Ngoc Can, Director of the Lam Dong Fire Police.

In the past 2 years, Lam Dong has experienced 104 major fire incidents, killing 5 people and injuring 9 others, causing a loss of VND 19.5 billion in total. Over the time, the Fire Police of Lam Dong has deployed some 3,000 officers to directly extinguish the fire incidents, and 850 officers and 84 vehicles to rescue missions.

In 2016 and 2017, the Fire Police of Lam Dong was honoured with the Emulation Flag by the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) while various teams and individuals of the unit received awards from the State President, the MPS and the Provincial People’s Committee of Lam Dong.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh recognized and appreciated all achievements gained by the Fire Police of Lam Dong in the past 2 years. He also urged the unit to further strengthen its force and equipment to meet the task requirements of the current context.

Earlier on the morning of the same day, Deputy Minister Thanh attended a conference organized by the Lam Dong Provincial Police Department to review its various police work of 2017.

According to reports, the provincial police force had successfully investigated and solved 488 out of 555 criminal cases in 2017. But, there were 179 traffic accidents in the province in 2017, killing 131 people and injuring 102 others.

Deputy Minister Thanh praised the efforts made by the provincial police in 2017, especially in settling successfully complicated cases related to national security.

The deputy minister also asked the provincial police force to strictly follow directions from the Central Party Committee of Public Security as well as the local authorities, and strive to achieve more positive outcomes in maintaining security and order, contributing to the province’s socio-economic development.
