Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh wraps up visit to Laos
PSNews – Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Thanh, Deputy Minister of Public Security leading a delegation of the Public Security Ministry of Vietnam successfully concluded a visit to Laos.

During the visit from September 18-25, General Thanh and his entourage worked with the Lao Public Security Ministry and other police units of the northern Lao provinces.
The working visit was within the framework of the cooperation programme between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Public Security Ministry of Laos, to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Laos (September 5, 1962-2017) and the 40th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam - Laos Treaty of Amity and Cooperation.

Welcoming General Thanh and the visiting delegation, Lao Minister of Public Security Somkeo Silavong highly appreciated the effective support and cooperation of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam over the past.
He also emphasized that in the current situation, the cooperation between the two sides plays an important role in combating against traditional and non-traditional crimes.
Mr. Somkeo Silavong hoped that in the coming time, Vietnam will host and invite Lao public security officers to workshops and training courses on the mentioned issues, contributing to maintaining political and national security of each country.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh thanked Mr. Somkeo Silavong for the warm welcome and agreed with the Lao side to boost cooperation in fighting cybercrimes, human trafficking crimes and drug crimes.
In addition, the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam will focus on training professional skills for public security officers and soldiers of Laos, helping them meet requirements of the new period, the guest affirmed.
During the working visit, the delegation of the Public Security Ministry of Vietnam made a field trip to the golden triangle area between Laos, Thailand and Myanmar, which is known as a hub of drug production and trade.
