Deputy Minister of Public Security: Any policemen found guilty will be strictly punished

PSNews – The Government Office held a regular press conference on April 5, which was chaired by the Minister, Head of the Governmental Office Mai Tien Dung.

At the press conference, some reporters asked the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) for information related to the exam frauds in the 2018 National High-School Examination in Hoa Binh, involving various parents who work in the police force. Many National Assembly deputies suggested temporary suspensions of the involved police officers.

Responding to the question, Senior Lieutenant General Bui Van Nam, Deputy Minister of Public Security, affirmed that the investigation police agencies at various levels had prosecuted 3 cases of exam fraud, with 16 involved people in Son La, Hoa Binh and Ha Giang. To date, the MPS has identified 222 students whose exam results had been falsified, and sent the findings to the Ministry of Education and Training. The Ministry of Public Security also coordinated with various universities and localities to handle the cases and involved people in accordance with the laws and regulations.

Deputy Minister Nam said that the investigation is still underway, and the results would soon be publicized.

Regarding questions about police officers involved in the cases, the Deputy Minister reconfirmed the policy of the MPS, saying that any police officers who are found with the wrongdoings, will be strictly punished in accordance with the laws as well as the police discipline. 

Deputy Minister Bui Van Nam also expressed his wish that journalists would continue to make contribution to the cause of education, and support the MPS and the Ministry of Education and Training to ensure safety, security and efficiency of this year’s national high-school examination.
