Deputy Prime Minister (PM) Truong Hoa Binh, Head of the Government’s 138 Steering Committee, praised the counter-narcotics police force for successfully destroying a transnational criminal ring trafficking drugs from Vietnam to South Korea.
The letter read that, on July 18, the Counter Narcotics Police Department, in coordination with the border guard force, the customs authority, and other specialized units under the MPS, successfully stamped out the criminal ring run by Korean and Chinese suspects based on Cat Lai Port (District 2, Ho Chi Minh City).
At the scene, the functional forces arrested 12 persons, including two South Korean nationals and two Chinese. They also seized over 40kg of synthetic drugs and many related documents.
On behalf of the Government and the 138 Steering Committee, Mr. Truong Hoa Binh recognized and praised the outstanding achievements of the functional forces participating in the case.
The Deputy PM hoped that the close coordination among the MPS’s Counter Narcotics Police Department, the Department of Drugs and Crime Prevention under the Border Guard Command, and the General Department of Customs, as well as international cooperation between Vietnam with counter-narcotics forces of other countries, will help to eradicate criminal networks of illicit drug production, trafficking and storage in Vietnam, effectively contributing to protecting a peaceful and happy life for the people.
