Drafting Board for draft law on ensuring road traffic order and safety established

PSNews - The Ministry of Public Security has announced a decision to establish a Drafting Board and an Editorial Team to draft the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety.

The Ministry of Public Security will lead the building of the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety.

According to the decision, General To Lam, Member of the Politburo and Minister of Public Security heads the Drafting Board. Deputy Heads of the Drafting Board are Major General Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Deputy Minister of Public Security, Mr. Dang Hoang Oanh, Deputy Minister of Justice, and Mr. Le Dinh Tho, Deputy Minister of Transport.

Other members of the Drafting Board include representatives from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Government’s Inspectorate, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Finance and other relevant ministries and agencies.

The Drafting Board is tasked to support the Minister of Public Security in developing contents of the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety in accordance with the Party's guidelines while ensuring its constitutionality, legality and uniformity with the current legal system.

Additionally, the Drafting Board is also responsible for completing all procedures for the Minister of Public Security to report the Government on the draft law and then present it at the National Assembly’s sitting for approval.

Meanwhile, the Editorial Team, led by Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc, will be responsible for assisting the Drafting Board in drafting the law.

Reportedly, at the Government’s meeting in April 2020, the Prime Minister assigned relevant ministries to build a draft Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety and an amended draft to the Road Traffic Law, which are expected to be submitted to the 14thNational Assembly for approval as soon as possible.
