Fierce combat against drug-related crimes in Muong Cha border district

PSNews - The Muong Cha District Police has been striving to fulfill the assigned tasks, contributing to maintaining a peaceful life for the local people.

Senior Lieutenant Colonel Vi Van Chuyen - Head of the District Police, said, Muong Cha is a district bordered on Laos and has for years been a focal place of drug prevention in the Northwest area.

In 2017, the Muong Cha District Police actively advised the local Party organizations and authorities to launch the movement "All people preventing and fighting drug-related crimes."

The District Police has held information dissemination mobile drives in all 12 communes of the district, 55 local agencies and enterprises with 9,863 participants. The local police force also reviewed and identified 403 drug addicts in the locality and sent 85 cases to detoxification centers.

The local force also built up good models in the drug-related crime prevention movement, such as 110 people's security groups,  2 joint security groupings, 5 "Women with laws" clubs, and 14 local youth self-managed groups at schools.

The Muong Cha District Police has thoroughly grasped the situation while strictly managing subjects. It effectively conducted plans on drug-related prevention and at the same time launched continuous raids on drug-related criminals, destroying many large drug trafficking rings.

Since the beginning of the year, the local police has invested 32 drug-related cases, arrested 41 suspects, and seized 2.96 kg of heroin, 1.4 kg of synthetic drugs, 24 kg of opium, 9 motorbikes, 12 cell phones and many other exhibits.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Phu, Chairman of the Muong Cha District People's Committee said that, despite difficulties, the district police have been continuously striving to fulfill their tasks. They advised the local Party Committee and authority to mobilize the comprehensive power of the whole political system and people to fight drug-related crimes. Therefore, drug-related crimes in the locality have been restrained without any complex spots of drugs.
