Firefighting Police asks to improve expertise and capabilities

The Police Department of Firefighting and Rescue of the Ministry of Public Security held a conference on July 6 to review its task performance in the first half and roll out plans for the last 6 months of 2017, under the chair of Lieutenant General Bui Van Thanh, Deputy Minister of Public Security.
In the complex situation of fire and explosion in the first 6 months of the year, the Firefighting Police closely followed directions of the Government and the Ministry of Public Security; actively implemented useful measures with the aim of improving the effectiveness of its State management of fire prevention work; promptly coped with emerging problems in fire prevention activities; deployed synchronous measures solutions to reduce damage of explosion.
Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister Bui Van Thanh pointed out limitations in fire prevention and rescue activities of the firefighting police force over the past time.
In the time ahead, he instructed the firefighting police to quickly complete institutions and legal frameworks regarding the State management of fire prevention and rescue activities.
The force should also build a standard system of the firefighting police’s equipment; effectively invest in necessary projects and continuously promote the force’s expertise and capabilities as well as organize training courses for officers and soldiers.
Deputy Minister Bui Van Thanh clearly stated that disseminating information and laws on fire prevention and raising public awareness of fire prevention and rescue are very important. It would be significant if all students from elementary schools to universities have sufficient knowledge and skills of fire prevention and fighting.
All competent units should intensify inspection and review fire prevention plans at key establishments which have high risks of fire and explosion, so as to soon overcome shortcomings.
In addition, relevant units should also focus on scientific research and apply information technology as well as modern facilities to fire prevention and rescue.
Moreover, in the coming time, the firefighting police should build up and deploy fire prevention plans for major political events of the country in the next 6 months of 2017, especially for APEC.
