“Following our father generation” programme held to mark police’s traditional day

On the occasion of the 55th traditional day of the Vietnam People’s Police Force (July 20, 1962 – 2017), the People’s Police Academy held the exchange programme “Following our father generation” on July 18, in Hanoi.

The ceremony saw the participation of Senior Lieutenant General Le The Tiem, former Deputy Minister of Public Security; Lieutenant General Tran Van Ve, Acting Director of the General Department of Police; Lieutenant General Nguyen Xuan Yem, Director of the People’s Police Academy and other representatives of general departments, departments under the Ministry of Public Security as well as officers, soldiers, students of the People’s Police Academy.

Before starting the programme, guests, leaders and representatives of officers, soldiers and students of the People’s Police Academy had offered wreaths and incense to President Ho Chi Minh and the late Ministers of Public Security.

Addressing the programme, Lieutenant General Nguyen Xuan Yem said that the programme would help students enrich their knowledge of and raise their awareness of glorious tradition and history of the police force. It also aimed to pay tribute to the previous generations of the police force and review the development process of the police force over the past 55 years as well as the development of the People's Police Academy.

In the first part of the programme, Senior Lieutenant General Le The Tiem; Lieutenant General Tran Van Ve and Major General Nguyen Trung Thanh, former Director of the People’s Police Academy had open talks with all participants.

Senior Lieutenant General Le The Tiem highly appreciated achievements of the police force in general and of the People’s Police Academy in particular over the past years.

He also told participants about his life and career, which aroused students’ pride and sense of responsibility for their learning and training at the school to become good police officers in the future.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant General Tran Van Ve and Major General Nguyen Trung Thanh encouraged students of the People’s Police Academy to concentrate on their study, with a focus on foreign languages and information technology to meet requirements of tasks in the current context.

The programme also listened to interesting stories with valuable experience in investigating major criminal cases and fighting crimes, shared by other former leaders of the General Department of Police, Heroes of the People’s Armed Forces.
