Former officers of Legendary H88 Section observe Traditional Day
PSNews – The special Criminal Police Section (H88), under the Criminal Police of Hai Phong city on May 19 organized a meeting to celebrate its 30th Traditional Day and the 28th Anniversary of its reception of the title “Hero of the Armed Forces”.

The event saw the presence of former leaders of the city and the city’s police; Senior Colonel Nguyen Quoc Hung, Deputy Director of the Municipal Police of Hai Phong as well as generations of officers of the H88 Section.
Generations of officers of the H88 Section took the occasion to review and recall all achievements and good deeds of the unit over the past years, creating the “legendary H88 Section”.
In the late 1980s, the situation of security and order in Hai Phong was complicated with a rise in criminal gangs, committing serious crimes, causing public worries and anxieties.
Against this backdrop, the Municipal Party Committee and the People’s Committee of Hai Phong directed the city’s police to establish a special criminal police team, an elite squad called H88 to stamp out criminal activities.
The H88 was officially formed on May 19, 1988 with 16 elite police officers.
After its establishment, the team successfully cracked down on various dangerous criminal gangs and attained numerous achievements and feats in the fight against crimes, contributing to restoring security and order in the city.
For its outstanding achievements, the H88 was bestowed the title “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces” by the State President in 1990.
