General Department of Police reviews anti-crime campaign

PSNews – The General Department of Police in October held a teleconference to review its campaign against crimes and deploy measures to prevent corruption crime in the ending months of 2017.

Senior Lieutenant General Le Quy Vuong, member of the Central Party Committee, Deputy Minister of Public Security attended the event.

According to reports at the conference, the General Department of Police strictly conducted the campaign against crimes with various creative methods in accordance to the specific conditions of different localities; actively gave advice to the local authorities and Party committees on directing their subordinate agencies and organizations to participate in the campaign, contributing to promoting the comprehensive power of the political system in crime prevention and combat.

Almost all objectives of the campaign were reached with some outcomes better than the same 2 months of 2016 and the 2 months before the campaign. In particular, the rate of investigated and solved criminal cases reached 81.35% in general and 100% in several particular localities. Meanwhile, more criminal gangs were cracked down while the numbers of murders and robberies fell compared to the same period last year. The force also investigated in depth many economic-related and corruption cases, such as the Oceanbank or PVC.

On behalf of the Central Party Committee of Public Security, Deputy Minister Le Quy Vuong praised the achievements obtained by the General Department of Police in recent times.

Deputy Minister Le Quy Vuong urged the local police units to review and re-evaluate the plans as well as central tasks, while striving to meet and exceed the set targets. In the upcoming time, the unit should focus on implementing strictly its plans to ensure absolute safety for the APEC Summit Week 2017 in Da Nang, the 4th working session of the 14th National Assembly the and other national important events.

The force should also roll out plans to prevent effectively the crime involving the use of weapons and explosive materials; organize in-depth training and implement the laws relating the police force that will come into effect in 2018.The force was also asked to launch an anti-crime campaign to ensure security and order during the Lunar New Year 2018.
