The working session saw the participation of Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong, Party Central Committee’s member, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Municipal Party Committee, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Municipal People's Committee; and leaders of units under the Ministry of Public Security.

Reports delivered by leaders of the Ho Chi Minh Municipal Police Department read that, in 2019, the unit has successfully investigated 3,080 cases of offences of social order and safety, up by 1.68% compared to the same period in 2018.
The city’s police force solved 88.75% of serious and extremely serious criminal cases, handled 1,570 drug-related cases with 3,612 suspects arrested and nearly 345 kg of heroin, over 1.3 tons of synthetic drugs seized.
The municipal police also reduced the number of traffic accidents and fire incidents while promoting the movement “All people protecting National security” with many effective approaches.
In addition, the Ho Chi Minh City Municipal Police Department has streamlined its apparatus for effectiveness and efficiency in line with the instructions of the leadership of the Ministry of Public Security, and kept taking the lead in posting professional police officers to communal police posts.

On behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee and the Ministry of Public Security, Minister To Lam praised the achievements obtained by officers and soldiers of the Ho Chi Minh City Municipal Police Department in 2019.
Minister To Lam emphasized that, these achievements have significantly contributed to the socio-economic development of Ho Chi Minh City and the whole country.
The Minister asked the city’s police force to take specific measures to improve the State governance over national security and social order while creating favorable conditions for citizens and enterprises to complete administrative procedures.
The Ho Chi Minh Municipal Police was also urged to strictly handle violations of traffic safety, urban order and fire safety, and to launch intensive campaigns to crack down on crimes during the coming Lunar New Year holidays.
