HCMC Municipal Police takes lead in maintaining local security and order

PSNews - The Municipal Police of Ho Chi Minh City held a conference on January 20 to review its work in 2017 and roll out its working plan for 2018.

As authorized by the State President, Deputy Minister Le Quy Vuong presented the Military Exploit Order, 2nd Class to the city's police

The conference was attended by Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan, Member of Politburo and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; Senior Lieutenant General Le Quy Vuong, Member of the Central Party Committee and Deputy Minister of Public Security; Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong, Member of the Central Party Committee and Chairman of HCMC Municipal People’s Committee; and various leaders and representatives of departments and units of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) and the city’s police.

Lieutenant General Le Dong Phong, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Police, reported said that in 2017, the city’s police actively carried out reforms and effectively implemented the guidelines and policies of the Party and State, as well as directions by the MPS and the municipal authorities on security and order while well maintaining political stability and social order and safety, contributing positively to the socio-economic development of the city.

In the political security front, the city’s police actively took measures to struggle against hostile forces, and implement preventive plans to avoid unexpected and complicated situations.

Various individuals and teams honored at the event 

Regarding social order and safety, the municipal police units investigated and smashed 443 criminal gangs. The municipal police also successfully investigated 3,500 criminal cases, arrested 3,700 suspects.

Particularly, the city’s police successfully investigated and cracked down on inter-provincial criminal networks relating to large-scale drug production, storage and trade, and arrested 3,160 suspects in 1,407 cases.

Secretary of HCMC Municipal Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan appreciated all efforts and achievements of the city’s police, saying that they had contributed significantly to the city’s socio-economic development. He also emphasized that the local police force had made large contribution to the city’s socio-economic development and improved people’s living standard.

The city’s police had made a great contribution to the achievements of the whole public security forces, said Lieutenant General Le Quy Vuong.

The Deputy Minister also stressed that the city’s security and order situation would see complex developments and potential unstable, insecure factors in 2018.

He urged the city’s police to take the lead in the fight against all threats to political security and social order and safety.
