Hanoi Municipal Police asked to boost crime prevention and fight

Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, Politburo Member, Secretary of the Public Security Central Party Committee, Minister of Public Security attended and delivered a keynote speech.

According to reports at the conference, the Municipal Police of Hanoi responded to newly-arising issues and complex cases related to security and order, avoided being put at a disadvantage, and contributed significantly to the common achievements of the whole Public Security Forces in 2018. 

Particularly, the municipal police force investigated 3,561 criminal cases or 81% of the total criminal cases (exceeding the target by the National Assembly by 6%) with 5,285 people involved; uncovered 96 serious cases with 157 offenders (8.9% higher than target assigned by the NA). 

The city’s police also investigated over 3,000 drug-related cases with nearly 4,000 involved people; commenced criminal proceedings against over 3,300 people involved in some 2,800 criminal cases. The municipal police classified, processed and handled 90.8% of the complaints and denunciations of crimes. Traffic accidents were controlled in all 3 criteria of numbers of cases, deaths and injuries compared with the previous year.

Speaking at the conference, Minister To Lam expressed his consensus with the working plans for 2019 of the Municipal Police Department and urged the city’s police to focus on the Party work and force building, tighten the discipline and enhance inspection to promote efficiency of the management and personnel work, as well as to pay more attention to training of the commune police force.

Minister Lam also asked Hanoi’s police to enhance the application of professional tactics as well as professional and social prevention to reduce crimes in the locality.

Minister Lam asked the capital’s police force to further coordinate with functional forces in management of residency of foreigners, management of weapons, explosives and combat gears, and conditional business; effectively implement administrative reforms to facilitate activities of people and business. The municipal police force was also asked to take steps to ensure traffic order and safety, urban order and control traffic accidents and congestion as well as to enhance fire prevention.
