Lieutenant General Doan Duy Khuong, Director of Hanoi Municipal Police Department, on February 26 asked all of its sub-units to raise their sense of responsibility and take drastic measures against the acute respiratory disease (Covid-19).

Lieutenant General Khuong urged all units under the Municipal Police Department to check and record all foreign visitors to Vietnam and Vietnamese citizens returning home from the epidemic-hit areas, especially people transiting in or coming from the Republic of Korea (RoK)’s Daegu city and North Gyeongsang for medical examination and supervision.

He particularly requested the municipal police hospital’s staff to coordinate closely with the Hanoi Municipal Department of Health and the Hanoi Capital Military High Command to quarantine people from affected areas according to the regulations.

At the same time, the local police forces should continue to promote information dissemination on Covid-19 to raise the public awareness of preventing the disease.

The city’s police also called on Vietnamese citizens and foreigners coming from epidemic-hit areas to immediately report the local authorities on their health condition and go to medical centers when they feel symptoms similar to Covid-19. The Municipal Police also asked people not to treat discriminatorily towards foreign visitors from affected countries.

According to statistics, some 200,000 Vietnamese citizens are living, studying and working in the RoK. The figure includes more than 26,000 people in Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk, at the same time, while about 21,000 Koreans are residing in Hanoi.
