Hanoi Police and Vietnam Social Insurance join hands to prevent insurance crime
- Japan and Vietnam cooperate in improving health insurance system
- Compulsory social insurance required of foreign workers in VN starting from 2018
Over the past five years implementing the coordination Regulation (2012-2017), the Hanoi Police force and the Vietnam Social Insurance (VSS) have effectively coordinated in preventing, detecting and fighting insurance crimes and violations of social insurance, health insurance and unemployment insurance policies.
The two sides, in which the main participating unit of the Hanoi Police is its Division of Economic Police, regularly exchanged information and data about social insurance payments of local employers, including foreign-invested enterprises that delay social insurance payments for their employees.
Joint inspection missions worked effectively, contributing to to reducing late social insurance payments. In the first 6 months of 2014 only, the authorities retrieved more than 30 billion VND of bad debt of social insurance. However, in the first 5 months of 2017, the social insurance agencies had to handle 8 cases of unpaid social insurance and retrieved 7.8 billion VND.
In the upcoming time, the Hanoi Social Insurance will continue to actively coordinate with the Hanoi Police force and other branches to promote information dissemination on social insurance, health insurance and unemployment insurance to local businesses, organizations and individuals.
The two sides will also strengthen inspection over businesses and organizations with delayed insurance payments or signs of violating the Laws on Social Insurance and Health Insurance so as to guarantee legitimate benefits for insurance policy beneficiaries and maintain social security in Hanoi.
