Hanoi Traffic Police deploys all efforts to ensure safe festive season

PSNews-The Hanoi Traffic Police held a ceremony to launch a campaign to ensure traffic safety and order during the 2017 festive season. Various drastic measures have been taken to reduce traffic jams in the capital city during the 2017 spring festive season.

Statistics by the Hanoi Traffic Police Department showed that in the five days of Tet, the traffic police force have checked means of transport and handled 780 cases, temporarily seized 39 motorbikes, 3 electric scooters, 166 sets of vehicle documents, withdrawn 22 driving licenses.

The most common traffic offenses were driving without helmets (570 cases), wrong parking (49 cases), and unlawful surpassing (42 cases).

In the last 5 days of Tet, Hanoi saw 8 traffic accidents, killed 8 and injured 5. In comparison to the same period of the previous year, the number of accidents stayed unchanged; however, the figure of death reduced by 4 people and the number of injured people dropped by 6.

To ensure traffic order and safety during the remaining peak days of the Lunar New Year Dinh Dau and Spring Festival season, Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Hong Truong also suggested the Hanoi Municipal Police as well as the Traffic Police Division to mobilize maximum efforts in coordination with other police forces to enhance patrols and checks, detect and strictly handle violations of traffic regulations.
