PSNews - Leaders of the Mai Chau District Police Station, Hoa Binh Province on August 30 deployed over 100 police officers and soldiers to flooded and landslide areas, in collaboration with local forces, to help people move out of the dangerous areas.

The unit also mobilized special function vehicles of the local traffic police force to transport people through flooded areas.

Earlier, heavy downpours from August 28 to 30 in some communes of Mai Chau District, Hoa Binh Province had triggered serious landslides, killing a 2-year-old child, and submerged many road sections deeply in water.

Due to the heavy rains, floodwater isolated 3 communes Cun Pheo, Pieng Ve and Bao La of Mai Chau District, blocking high school students from returning home. Two bridges in Xam Khoe commune collapsed, halting people from traveling across the high-water-level streams.

Same day on Quy Hau slope, part of National Highway No.6, in Tan Lac District, Hoa Binh Province, water continuously flushed downhill, causing several landslides.

In Cong Nghiep High School of Hoa Binh City, over 1,000 teachers and students were unable to go to school due to prolonged heavy rains. Many local schools were temporarily closed for safety of students.
