PSNews–The Public Security Department for Information and Communications coordinated with donors to present gifts worth 500 million VND to poor people in the two Northern provinces of Cao Bang and Bac Kan.

The charitable delegation including officers of the Department, donors and representatives of the Provincial Police of Bac Kan, led by its Vice Director of the Department, Senior Colonel Dang Lan Dung, presented 40 gifts, worth 1,350,000 VND each, to retired or poor police officers in Ngan Son District on December 25.

Ngan Son has one town and 10 communes. Although the district is quite large in area, it has a small population, according to Lieutenant Colonel Ma Ngoc Ha, Vice Head of the Ngan Son District Police Station.

174 non-commissioned commune police officers are responsible for the 174 villages of the districts, including separate villages on high mountains hard to access. Although the non-commissioned commune police officers of Ngan Son have to work hard to maintain security and order of their assigned localities, especially resident areas of ethnic minority groups, they receive a relatively low pay. Thus, most of them live in economic difficulties.

Lieutenant Colonel Ha, however, said that the non-commissioned commune police officers played an important role in mobilizing local people to participate in protecting national security and ensuring security and order.

The District Police leadership has planned to gradually improve abilities and train commune police officers in professional skills in the time to come as well as to take more care of them to comprehensively strengthen the commune police force so that they can contribute more to crime prevention and fight in the district.
