MPS and Interpol promote cooperation for a safer world

PSNews-Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, Minister of Public Security (MPS) received and worked with a delegation of Interpol led by its Secretary General, Mr. Jurgen Stock on July 6 in Hanoi.

The meeting was also attended by other leaders of relevant agencies of the MPS.

Minister To Lam congratulated Mr. Jurgen Stock on the impressive results that Interpol had achieved in the past time, especially in its campaigns to resolutely fight organized and cross-border crimes as well as terrorism and cyber crime across the world. He also applauded the international police organization’s orientation on a strategic reform to improve its performance in the coming years.

These important activities have contributed to building a solid foundation for Interpol and at the same time to tightening the connection between Interpol and the police forces of member countries in general and Vietnam’s police force in particular.

Minister Lam expressed his thanks to the Secretary General and the staff of the General Secretariat of Interpol for supporting Vietnam's police force. He also emphasized that Interpol’s cooperation and its valuable support have enhanced the effectiveness of the fight against transnational crime in Vietnam.

Minister To Lam affirmed that Vietnam always wishes to further enhance cooperation in order to fulfill the responsibility of a member country as well as to improve the efficiency of prevention and fight against transnational crimes in Vietnam.

Minister Lam suggested that Interpol continue to promote the sharing of information on transnational and organized crime, especially high-tech crime, terrorism and other emerging types of crime, so that the Vietnamese police force could draw up plans in time to prevent possible criminal activities, particularly when Vietnam will host the 24th APEC Summit Week in November.

In addition, Minister To Lam asked Interpol to continue supporting the MPS of Vietnam by creating favorable conditions for Vietnamese police offcers to participate in training courses organized by Interpol, especially the ones on prevention of cyber crime, terrorism, environmental crime, corruption. At the same time, Minister Lam also stressed that the police force in Vietnam is always ready to coordinate with the Interpol Secretariat to organize seminars, conferences and international training courses on crime prevention in Vietnam.

Mr. Jurgen Stock expressed his sincere thanks to Minister Lam for his reception, appreciated the responsibility of the MPS of Vietnam for various activities held by Interpol such as its participation in crime prevention campaigns in the region and its close and effective coordination with the Secretariat to organize international training courses, conferences, seminars in Vietnam.
