MPS and MoF discuss 2018 budget estimates

PSNews-The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) and Ministry of Finance (MoF) held a meeting on September 14 to discuss the 2018 budget estimates for the MPS.

At the event

Leaders of the MPS took the occasion to present medals “National Security Protection” to some individuals and groups of the MoF for their outstanding achievements in protecting national security and social order.

Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, Minister of Public Security and Mr. Dinh Tien Dung, Minister of Finance co-chaired the meeting. The event also saw participation of Lieutenant General Bui Van Thanh, Deputy Minister of Public Security and representatives of relevant agencies under the MPS and MoF.

The Central Party Committee of Public Security and the the MPS have issued resolutions, decisions on leadership, direction and management of budget work in 2017. Specifically, the MPS instructed the budget-using units to strictly comply with the Law on State Budget, proactively make a good spending plan within the scope of their budget allocations in accordance with their task performances, and enhance checking and inspecting spending while exercising thrift and anti-wastefulness.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister of Public Security To Lam affirmed that the financial management within the Public Security Forces was carried out in line with the existing regulations. The MPS always upholds the spirit of thrift in spending while saving on the budget, fighting against wasteful acts and invest only in key areas. The MPS also enhances the fight against economic crime and has restored a large amount of wrong spending.

Minister To Lam stressed that the situation of security and order is complicated and fluid while competent forces under the MPS, especially the criminal police, drug-related crime police and fire prevention and fighting police, have a high need for equipment and means.

Against this backdrop, Minister Lam asked the MoF to make a supplement to the budget of the MPS so that the ministry can further invest in key equipment, means and facilities of the public security forces, meeting their task requirements of ensuring security and order in the new situation.

In his speech, the Minister of Finance expressed his empathy with the financial difficulties of the MPS. He stressed that the MPS had well manage its budget over the year.

In the time to come, the MoF will continue to cooperate with the MPS in the field of financial management.

At the meeting, Minister To Lam handed over medals “National Security Protection” from the MPS to outstanding individuals and groups of the MoF who had made outstanding contributions to the cause of national security protection.
