MPS and Vietnam Farmers’ Union promote cooperation to control crime
PSNews- On July 6-7, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) in collaboration with the Vietnam Farmers' Union held a conference to review the five-year implementation of the 2012-2016 Crime Prevention Coordination Program and signed an extension of the program for another 5 year (2017 – 2021).

Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, Member of the Politburo, Minister of Public Security; Mr. Lai Xuan Mon, Member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers’ Union co-chaired the conference.
Speaking at the meeting, Minister To Lam and Mr. Lai Xuan Mon urged that party organizations, leaders, heads of police units and farmers’ organizations at all levels should make a difference in the perception of all officials, police officers and farmers on the significance and importance of the coordination between the police force and the Farmers' Union in maintaining security and order and preventing and combating crimes in localities.

At the meeting, delegates were briefed by representatives of the Vietnam Farmers’ Union Central Committee on the outcomes of the five-year cooperation between the Vietnam Farmers’ Union and the MPS in the 2012 – 2016 period.
Accordingly, the MPS and the Vietnam Farmers’ Union have actively paid attention to and promoted information dissemination, education and mass mobilization activities to make officials, police officers and farmers become more aware of the guidelines and policies of the Party, laws of the State in the prevention and fight against crimes, particularly human trafficking, drug dealing and other social evils.
Police units at all levels have worked closely with local authorities and associations and farmer organizations at all levels to select outstanding, ethically qualified and responsible farmers with a high sense of responsibility to join forces to safeguard security and order at the grassroots level with the aim of improving effectiveness of crime prevention and control.
Members of the Farmer’s Union and other farmers have played an important role in mediating conflicts and disputes within farmers; resettling thousands of complaints and petitions; providing education and vocational training courses to needy farmers or ex-offenders.
Delegates to the conference also discussed and highlighted shortcomings, limitations and analyzed the causes; proposed specific approaches to further enhance the coordination between the MPS and the Vietnam Farmer's Union in the coming time.
On this occasion, the MPS and Vietnam Farmer's Union signed another Coordination Program for the period of 2017-2021.
