General To Lam, Minister of Public Security, recently affirmed that the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) would further coordinate with the Fatherland Front of Vietnam and relevant agencies to review the housing project and call for more donation to build homes for poor people in the remaining localities of the Northwestern region.

Recently, some 1,200 families in need in Muong Nhe district, Dien Bien province, benefited from the project. They had their homes either newly built or repaired. Speaking at a meeting to review the project on building and repairing houses for poor families in Muong Nhe, Minister To Lam highlighted that the Public Security Central Party Committee and the MPS would coordinate with relevant agencies to extend the project to help poor households in Nam Po (Dien Bien), Muong Te (Lai Chau) and Van Ho (Son La).

The housing project in Muong Nhe completed on the 66th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954), contributing to promoting the fine tradition of the Vietnamese people of helping the ones in need, and implementing the National Target Program on sustainable poverty reduction as well as the movement of “no one is left behind”.

By the end of 2019, the percentage of poor and near poor households in Dien Bien accounted for 42.82%. Particularly, the figure in Muong Nhe, Nam Po, Muong Cha, Dien Bien Dong, Tua Chua and Tuan Giao districts reached over 50%.
