MPS discusses security and order criteria in new-style rural construction

PSNews - The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) held a conference on implementing the improved security and order criteria in new-style rural construction, on August 22 in Can Tho.

Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Son, Deputy Minister of Public Security and Head of the Steering Committee for the National Target Program on New-style Rural Construction of the MPS, chaired the seminar.

Reports at the seminar showed that the Public Security Forces attained various achievements in implementing the program of new-style rural construction over the past 10 years. The Public Security Forces advised local Party committees and authorities to ensure rural security, while local police units resolved civil conflicts and complaints at the grassroots level.

Local police units launched various campaigns to prevent and fight crimes, catch runaway criminals and eradicate hot spots of security and order while mobilizing local people to report on crimes and social evils, and well managing ex-prisoners in their localities. Local police units also encouraged the people to participate in ensuring traffic order and safety, and fire prevention and fighting, contributing to the economic, social and cultural development in the rural areas.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son at the seminar asked all relevant units to improve the security and order criteria in building new-style rural areas, actively prevent and fight against crimes, resolve effectively all complex security and order issues in the countryside. In doing so, local police units should pay more attention to the building of the communal police force.

The Steering Committee for National Target Program on New-style Rural Construction of the MPS was asked to actively coordinate with other branches and agencies to advise the local Party committees and authorities to mobilize strength of the whole political system for the building of new-style rural areas.
