MPS inaugurates new laboratory specializing in trace examination and analysis

PSNews - The Institute of Criminal Science under the MPS on September 20 held a inaugural ceremony of a laboratory for trace examination and analysis sponsored by the RoK National Police Agency. The lab is a result of the cooperation program between the Republic of Korea (RoK) National Police Agency and the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security (MPS).

The event witnessed the presence of Senior Lieutenant General Le Quy Vuong, Deputy Minister of Public Security; Major General Vu Ngoc Lan, Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs Department under the MPS as well as a high-level delegation of the RoK National Police Agency led by Mr. Lim Ho Seon, Deputy Chief of National Police Agency.

Over the past time, the relationship between Vietnam and RoK has been developing strongly and achieved practical results in all fields, while the cooperation between the security and police forces of the two countries has been expanded. Especially, Vietnam has received significant assistance and support from the RoK National Police Agency for the project "Strengthening Criminal Science Capacities for the Vietnamese Public Security Forces."

 Over the past time, the RoK National Police Agency has sent many teams of experts to examine and work with the Institute of Criminal Science under the MPS on repairing the facilities and upgrading equipment of its laboratory of examination and analysis of fingerprints, footprints, traces of shoes and sandals. The construction of the lap was started on April 11 and the lap was designed, constructed and supervised by Korean engineers. The project was completed after 5 months.

The project covers an area of 130 square meters, consists of a working room, 2 experimental rooms, 2 specialized rooms, a store of evidence, and a store of chemical for traces analysis. All the rooms are designed under the standards of the RoK National Police Agency.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister Le Quy Vuong and Mr. Lim Ho Seon expressed their delight at the project and believed that, in the coming time, the laboratory will be used effectively in criminal scientific research and analysis, helping to improve the criminal science capacity of the Vietnamese MPS. At the same time, such support also fostered the relationship and friendship between the two countries in general and ties between the security and police forces of the two countries in particular.

On behalf of the Vietnamese MPS, Deputy Minister Le Quy Vuong extended deep thanks to the Chief and Deputy Chief of RoK National Police Agency as well as the staff of the RoK National Police Agency for their support for the Vietnamese side.

Deputy Minister Le Quy Vuong hoped that, in the coming time, the Vietnamese MPS" would continue to receive more support from the RoK National Police Agency, especially in the field of criminal techniques, under the project “Strengthening Criminal Science Capacity for the Vietnamese Public Security Forces.”
