MPS leader receives international guests

PSNews - Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Thanh, Deputy Minister of Public Security, on May 14 received delegations from the National Police Agency of the Republic of Korea and the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor under the U.S. Department of State.

At the reception for the visiting delegation of the Republic of Korea (RoK) National Police, led by Director of Welfare Policy Park Jin Woo, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh highlighted positive developments in the comprehensive Vietnam-RoK relations, which has created a firm basis for the cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) of Vietnam and the National Police Agency (NPA) of RoK, particularly in exchange of delegations at all levels and coordination in prevention and fight against hi-tech crimes, fugitive pursuit, protection of agencies, businesses and citizens of one country in the other.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh also appreciated the NPA’s assistance and support for the building of the Center for Criminal Sciences of the MPS in Vietnam. This has been the first project in Vietnam backed by the NPA of the RoK with the aim of building capacity of the police force of Vietnam and boosting the cooperation between the police forces of the two countries. The Vietnamese deputy minister of public security hoped that NPA would continue its support to phase 2 of the project to enhance criminal science capacity of the MPS of Vietnam and to build an electronic shooting range for the Municipal Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City.

For his part, Mr. Park Jin Woo expressed his delight at the fine outcomes of the cooperation between the MPS of Vietnam and the NPA of the RoK, and promised to do his best to promote the cooperation projects between the two sides in the time to come.

On the same day, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh also received Mr. Scott Busby, Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor at the U.S. Department of State. Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh appreciated the all-rounded good results in cooperation between Vietnam and the U.S as well as between the MPS of Vietnam and law enforcement agencies of the U.S. 

He also hoped that Deputy Assistant Secretary Busby would further contribute to accelerating and developing the cooperative ties between Vietnam and the U.S as well as between the MPS of Vietnam and law enforcement agencies of the U.S, for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region.

Deputy Assistant Secretary Busby thanked Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh for the kind reception and express his hope that the cooperation between the two sides would be further promoted in the future.
