MPS leader receives international guests

General To Lam, Minister of Public Security, on January 10 received Mr. Uttam Dhillon, Acting Administrator of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) under the U.S. Department of Justice.

Minister To Lam welcomed the DEA delegation and highlighted that Dhillon’s visit has opened a series of activities to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-U.S. diplomatic ties in 2020.

Minister To Lam also highly appreciated the cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the DEA in the past time and suggested that both sides further promote the coordination, contributing to deepening the comprehensive partnership between the two countries.

The DEA Acting Administrator thanked Minister Lam for the reception and spoke highly of the effective coordination of the police forces of Vietnam in the framework of the cooperation plans and international treaties that both countries are signatories.

He also affirmed that the DEA would further boost training cooperation and technical support for with Vietnam’s functional agencies as well as coordinate with the Vietnamese side in investing drug-related crimes at both bilateral and multilateral levels.

Later on the same day, Minister To Lam received General Sok Phal, Minister of State of the Cambodian Interior Ministry.

Speaking at the reception, Minister To Lam affirmed that the MPS of Vietnam always wants to promote the close coordination with the Cambodian Interior Ministry in ensuring national security and social order and safety, protecting high-ranking delegations of one country visiting the other.

The MPS of Vietnam gives priority to the comprehensive cooperation with Cambodia on the basis of the traditional friendship cultivated by generations of leaders and people of the two countries for the sake of national development and peace and happiness of the two nations.

General Sok Phal thanked Minister To Lam for the reception and spoke highly of the outcomes of the cooperation  between the MPS and the Cambodian Interior Ministry. He also wished the cooperation between the two countries and two ministries would further flourish, contributing to ensuring national security, social order and safety in each country.
