MPS leaders pay tribute to heroic martyrs in Dien Bien Phu

A delegation of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) led by General, Minister To Lam on May 7 visited and paid tribute to heroic martyrs at Martyrs’ Cemetery A1 in Muong Thanh ward, Dien Bien Phu City, Dien Bien Province.

The event also saw the presence of Mr. Tran Thanh Man, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee; other members of the Party Central Committee and leaders of Central agencies. Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang, Deputy Minister of Public Security; Lieutenant General Mai Van Ha, Director of the Public Security Department of Information and Communications; Major General To An Xo, Chief of the Ministerial Office; Major General Sung A Hong, Director of the Dien Bien Provincial Police Department joined the delegation.

Martyrs’ Cemetery A1, built in 1958 and located a few hundred meters from the historical site of A1 Hill, is where 644 heroic military officers and soldiers rest in peace. All of them sacrificed themselves during the Dien Bien Phu Campaign. But most of the graves are unnamed while the remainders with names include the renowned heroic martyrs of To Vinh Dien, Phan Dinh Giot, Be Van Dan and Tran Can.

The MPS delegation offered floral tribute in commemoration of the heroic martyrs, who had bravely fought and sacrificed their lives for the national independence and the people’s happiness.

After the offering ceremony, Minister To Lam planted souvenir trees at the Cemetery, visited the Dien Bien Phu Victory Museum and lit incense in commemoration of the deceased soldiers.

During his trip to Dien Bien, Minister To Lam also attended a conference reviewing and closing a housing project for poor households in Muong Nhe district and offering gifts to needy people in Nam Po district.
