PSNews - Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Son, Deputy Minister of Public Security (MPS), Head of the MPS Steering Committee on disease prevention and control worked with relevant agencies and units on March 26 to review plans to set up a COVID-19 quarantine area for public security officers suspected of the virus infection in the People's Police College I.

Senior Colonel Bui Quang Vu, Rector of the People's Police College I briefed the MPS delegation on the plans and preparations for the COVID-19 quarantine area located at the People's Police College I in Tien Duoc Commune, Soc Son District, Hanoi City. The location is more than 10km away from Noi Bai International Airport and 30km away from Hanoi City’s Center.

Speaking at the inspection, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son highly appreciated the serious and urgent participation of functional units under the MPS in implementing the MPS's guidance to cope with the COVID-19 epidemic.

He re-affirmed the importance of the quarantine area for COVID-19 suspects as the COVID-19 situation is uncertain and complicated. The quarantine area must have good conditions and meet the standards of the Ministry of Health for quarantine.

The functional units should carefully calculate the human and resources needed to serve the quarantine area when it officially receives suspected cases, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son noted.

He also stressed that the staff serving the quarantine area should be well-trained while the equipment and facility of the quarantine area must be sufficient to effectively prevent and control the spread of COVID-19.

The Ministerial Office and the Department of Health under the MPS will soon launch operational models for quarantine zones of different sizes.
