MPS reviews implementation of national population database project

The MPS on March 12 held a video conference to review results of the implementation of the National Population Database Project (NPDP). Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang, Deputy Minister of Public Security, Major General Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Deputy Minister of Public Security (MPS) and representatives of public security agencies and units at all levels attended the conference.

At the opening remarks, Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc emphasized that under the close direction of the Public Security Central Party Committee and the MPS, the NPDP has efficiently been implemented over the past time.

The public security agencies and units at all levels have collected and digitalized nearly 80 million declarations of residency status from 59 out of the 63 provinces and cities across the country.

The ministry also implemented other important tasks, including drawing up a Project to Enter Data into the NPDP, developing software systems, and  crafting procedures for connecting the citizenship ID system to the national population database.

In order to speed up the project, the MPS on March 4 issued a master plan to complete the whole project by April 30, 2021, contributing to improving the efficiency of State management over population, promoting the building of an e-Government, a digital economy and society, and facilitating the operations of the Public Security Forces.

Speaking at the conference, Minister To Lam recognized and hailed the efforts of the members of the Steering Committee as well as of the public security units at all levels in implementing the project.

The Minister asked the Steering Committee and the public security agencies and units at all levels to be fully aware of the importance and urgency of the project. He also requested the public security agencies and units to develop approaches to ensure information safety and security when ministries and sectors connect the database and share with one another information and data in the coming time.
