MPS reviews security works for second U.S – DPRK Summit

The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) held a conference on March 5 to review the work of ensuring security for the second U.S. – DPRK (Democratic People’s Republic of Korea) Summit, and the DPRK Chairman Kim Jong-un’s official visit to Vietnam.

General To Lam, Politburo Member, Minister of Public Security, chaired the conference.

The second US - DPRK Summit attracted the special attention from the Vietnamese and international media. According to official statistics, 2,652 reporters from 281 foreign news agencies (plus hundreds of domestic ones) came to Vietnam for the summit, a record number of international reporters ever participating in an international event held in the country.

To ensure absolute safety and security for the event, the MPS had followed directions from the Party, State and Government, and devised various security plans in response to any circumstances. The MPS had deployed various means and forces to ensure sufficient logistic supplies and good technical and communication services from the Command Center of the MPS to the units on duty.

Additionally, the MPS also received great supports from other ministries and agencies, including the Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as the local authorities and particularly the people. Minister To Lam emphasized that the Public Security Forces had successfully accomplished the assigned tasks of ensuring security and safety for this important event.

At the conference, Minister To Lam and other leaders of the MPS also presented Certificates of Merit to 33 teams and 55 individuals with outstanding achievements in ensuring security for the second U.S - DPRK Summit and the DPRK Chairman Kim Jong-un’s visit to Vietnam.
