MPS reviews two anti-crime plans

The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) recently held a meeting to review results of the implementation of two plans of the MPS on fighting organized and transnational crimes and settling areas with complicated public order and security issues in 2020.

At the event, Director of the Criminal Police Department Major General Tran Ngoc Ha delivered a report on the implementation of two projects, saying that the effective implementation of the two projects in recent years has significantly contributed to preventing and fighting crimes and creating positive changes in security and social order at the grassroots level.

The number of criminal offenses and criminal cases has decreased by 5.43% in 2020 and 7.39% in 2019. The rate of successfully investigated cases reached over 80%.

Deputy Minister Le Quy Vuong awards the Certificates of Merit from the MPS to organizations and individuals who had outstanding achievements in implementing the two plans.

From 2017 to 2020, the functional forces nationwide destroyed 6,992 criminal gangs with over 36,000 people involved. Some of those criminal gangs are well-organized and disguised as companies doing business in many economic and environmental fields.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Le Quy Vuong recognized and praised the achievements made by the police forces, relevant agencies, and local authorities in implementing the two plans over the past time.

In order to further implement the two plans in the time to come, Deputy Minister Le Quy Vuong requested local police forces to quickly work out and implement detailed plans to fight against organized crime in the period of 2021 – 2025 as well as establish steering committees to implement the plans to prevent the formation of “mafia-style” criminal groups.
