MPS strengthen ties with foreign diplomatic missions through sports

PSNews – The Department of Foreign Relations under the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) on July 22 held a press conference on the organization of a Friendly Football Tournament between the MPS and representatives of foreign diplomatic missions in Vietnam. 

The tournament is participated by 4 teams: the coalition team of the Australian Embassy in Vietnam and the British Embassy in Vietnam, the Embassy of the Lao PDR in Vietnam, the U.S. Embassy in Vietnam, and the Department of Foreign Relations under the MPS.

The tournament kicks off at 4.30 pm on July 24 at the stadium of the People’s Police Academy.

The tournament is seen as a practical activity to celebrate the 75th founding anniversary of the Public Security Forces (August 19, 1945 – 2020), the 15th “All people protecting national security” Festive Day (August 19, 2005 – 2020), the 8th “For National Security” Sport Festival, and the 75th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19) and National Day (September 2).

The activity also aims to enhance the collaboration and mutual understanding between the MPS and foreign diplomatic missions in Vietnam.

According to Major General Nguyen Thanh Son, Director of the Department, representatives of the foreign diplomatic missions in Vietnam will also join a trip to the historical site of the former Central Public Security Headquarters, in Minh Thanh commune, Son Duong district, Tuyen Quang province.

Additionally, the Department of Foreign Relations will also release an English – Vietnamese language book featuring the history of foundation and development of the People’s Public Security Forces, and the imprints of the Public Security Forces in foreign affairs in the past 75 years.
